Chaucey Perreault, MS, RYT500, C-IAYT, CT-RSS
Executive Director – Yoga4Change, Inc.,
As a young woman, Chaucey struggled with ADHD, Depression and addiction. She credits good fortune and the birth of her first son with helping her find sobriety in her 20s, but it wasn’t until she was introduced to Kripalu yoga that she found a refuge in daily practice that allowed her to do the real work of recovery. As she tells it, “the combination of feeling at home in my own skin, coupled with the knowledge that I could take my yoga with me everywhere I went was powerful.” In 2012, after working as a special education teacher for over a decade, Chaucey decided to combine her love of yoga with her love of teaching. She holds an MS in Education, a 500- hour yoga teacher certification, and is a Certified Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists. This year she earned CT certification as a Recovery Support Specialist, allowing her to serve individuals recovering from chronic mental health and addiction.
Over the past few years, she has completed trainings in trauma-sensitive yoga with the Justice Resource Center in MA, Yoga for 12 Step Recovery, Kripalu’s evidence-based Yoga in the Schools Curriculum, Silver Age Yoga for seniors, and training as a Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide. She teaches mindfulness-based yoga to a community ranging in age from 3 – 93. She is the founder & chief cook and bottle washer of the Connecticut 501c3 non-profit Yoga4Change.org. She lives in Hamden, CT with her husband, mother, 3 sons, and 3 dogs.
“Being a student of yoga helps me meet life’s challenges on and off the mat. My mission is to share that gift with others facing the challenges of change.”
Chaucey also teaches the Y12SR class at Mountain View offfered on Sundays at 3 pm. Check the Mountain View Wellness Calendar to learn more about the Y12SR class. Click here to learn more about Y12SR.
