“It’s less about what you’re playing & more about what you’re hearing.“
-Mark Zarillo

This informal, yet challenging playshop is for the drum-curious as well as drummers & drumming enthusiasts with all levels of experience who are interested in expanding their musicality.

What we’ll do:
• Practice the co-disciplines of fundamental hand drumming techniques & layered listening and how to apply them in real-time

• Explore universal grooves that are commonly found across multiple cultures throughout the globe, and their importance in creating our own beats

• Deconstruct traditional ethnic rhythmic patterns, not to understand their cultural significance, but as a means to improve playing & listening skills.

*Some instruments will be available or you can bring your own.
*All abilities and genders are welcome.

Early Bird by Tuesday, October 1: $25
Regular Rate: $30
